Every free portfolio tracker I tried asked for the same trade: make an account and upload your holdings to their cloud. The ones that don't ask are either expensive or so simplified they stop at a pie chart. None of them gave me real company research and a proper charting workspace in one place. I wanted the full personal investment research workflow, from holdings to filings to charts to notes, in a native app, with my data staying on my own disk. That became Pyx. It's fast because it's Rust all the way down. No Electron, no web view. The UI is drawn on the GPU, and a CI test fails the build if the startup path takes longer than 750 ms. It's private by default. No account, no telemetry. The app can only reach 9 hosts (quotes, SEC data, licensing, updates), and the list is compiled in and published. Your data is actually yours: The part most useful to me personally is the research features. Pyx pulls financials straight from SEC filings: up to 18 years of annual numbers and 70+ quarters for companies with deep history, each one linked to the filing it came from. Plus peer comps, ownership, and insider transactions. It runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux. Free to use with CSV or OFX imports from Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab, and others. $7/month adds read-only brokerage sync and the MCP server.
