Original Summary
I'm building a SaaS that makes launch videos for other SaaS products. You paste your URL, it pulls your brand (colors, fonts, positioning), and it generates a scene-by-scene storyboard you can edit. That part is free. The paywall is at the render: $59 for one film, $149 for the bigger plan. Where it breaks: most signups generate a storyboard, reach the render step, and leave. I emailed some of them and got zero replies. Why I can't just make the render free: it doesn't use an AI video model. It writes real animation code for every scene and renders it, so each render costs me real money. A free full render isn't possible at this price. My guesses: The preview doesn't look like the product. Storyboard scenes are shown as plain text cards. I think people assume the final video will be text on a canvas too. I added a note saying "representation, not final visuals," but a note doesn't show them anything. $59 feels high against a text preview. It's cheap compared to an agency, but that comparison doesn't help when all you've seen is text. These may be the same problem: the price feels high because the preview doesn't show the value. What I'm considering: Render only the first scene (a few seconds) for free, so people can see the real quality Put finished example videos right next to the pay button Show a still frame in each scene card instead of text A cheaper first film, or a shorter version at a lower price Do a free render(will cost me a lot) with pay for watermark removal Questions: If you run a "free preview, paid output" product, what closed the gap between preview and payment for you? A free first scene or a cheaper first purchase: which worked better for you? Cold emails to people who dropped off got zero replies. What actually gets a response? submitted by /u/Acceptable_Tiger_311 [link] [comments]
