Original Summary
I've started a small interview series with indie makers (so disclosure before you read on: this links to my website). The first interview is with Igor, who spent about 6 months building HansaChat on his own. It's a team chat app hosted in Germany. A few highlights: Per-seat pricing is a bigger pain than it looks. His example was a taxi company with 1,000 drivers. At €20 a head that's a big monthly bill, even though most of the drivers aren't working on any given day. The same goes for delivery companies, cleaning companies, anyone with lots of part-time staff. So he charges one flat price per workspace. SSO behind the enterprise plan annoyed him. On most tools you need a plan that costs about 2.5x more to get single sign-on. He put it on the free plan instead. He built it with AI agents, but did the design himself. He planned the architecture and every database field by hand and wrote it all into one core-concept doc. Then he had coding agents write the backend, frontend, tests and deployment. That's a more structured setup than most "built it with AI" stories I've heard. Distribution is harder than building. His line was "Building it was the easy half; getting noticed is the actual work." That seems to come up in almost every conversation I have with solo founders.
