Original Summary
I've been rethinking how I evaluate AI SaaS ideas. Let's say I find an idea where the numbers look almost too good: I can spend $1 to acquire a customer and make $5 back, and it seems repeatable. A year ago, I probably would've taken that as a strong signal to start building. Now I think I'd ask a different question first: Why hasn't competition already killed that 5x return? If the product only takes a few days to build, the customers are easy to identify, and everyone can buy traffic from the same channels, there's no obvious reason that 5x return should last. Someone else can build the same thing. Then someone else. More people start bidding for the same customers, and eventually 5x becomes 3x, 2x, or barely profitable. That got me thinking that maybe "high ROI" isn't actually what a small AI startup should be looking for. Maybe the more important question is: Why are the economics better for me than they would be for someone else? submitted by /u/PsychologicalRope850 [link] [comments]
