Original Summary
Long story short, a couple of weeks ago my friend handed over his SaaS to me completely because he does not have time to maintain it anymore. It has been built, tested, and is about 95% finished. The name is ServeScan. It is a digital QR menu platform, and with just a little research, I can see there are already dozens of similar services available. The only unique feature it has is a quick sold-out toggle. Other than that, it is basically the same as the competition. An interactive menu builder? Very common. A shareable link with a customized QR code? Every other platform has it. Stylized menu templates? They do not really add much value. POS integration? This platform does not even have it. After asking around for advice, I told my friend to launch it on Product Hunt before handing it over. He did that and then left. Now, everything is up to me. I tried doing some light marketing through cold outreach, X, and Facebook. A few people said they were interested in trying it, but the user count is still at zero. Yes, ZERO, even after a week of soft launching. Not a single person has signed up for the free tier. There is traffic, and the landing page bounce rate is not too bad, but it turns out people are simply not interested. Because of this, I realized that this type of SaaS might not hold much value. Even though it has a free tier and relatively cheap paid plans, business owners still prefer traditional menus. Whether it is paper or a simple chalkboard, it is probably much easier to manage. Looking back, this kind of SaaS might not actually help them. Instead, it just adds extra work because they have to maintain a digital menu on top of their daily tasks. So here I am, sitting in front of my laptop and looking at automated daily emails showing no changes in app statistics for seven straight days. I also keep getting emails, but not from the businesses I reached out to. Instead, they are from useless product listing services that saw the Product Hunt launch. I honestly do not know what to do next, so I will probably just let it run on its own and hope that SEO eventually brings in traffic. I can't even add new features or fix hidden bugs because I have no user feedback. Also, please do not offer me any product listing services or marketing tools. I have received enough of those messages, and I am definitely not interested in using them. submitted by /u/MicePot [link] [comments]
