Original Summary
(I have nothing to sell or offer this is just a rant) SaaS used to be a game of build it and they will come. Because software was new, hard to make, and there was a genuine gap in what people need vs what's available. If you could actually build the thing you were already ahead. Now everyone has the same access to the same AI tools that make building the easy part. Unless you have an existing audience or insane marketing skills you are likely not going to scale some shitty product you vibecoded in a weekend. The audacity of people to actually believe they can spend minimal effort on something and think it will be successful is tough to witness. If you really want to be successful selling software you need at least one of these: Distribution. There are countless examples of people making $100k+ per month selling shitty, competitive products. They have the audience to sell it to, or they know how to get in front of people who don't know the alternatives exist. Real SWE experience . Not "I can prompt claude". Actual experience. Vibecoding gets you a demo. Knowing how to make it secure, scale it without it falling apart when people actually use it. And the experience to know what NOT to do. Domain expertise. If you spent 8 years working an a specific industry you have a competitive advantage of knowing your ICP. Sales skills. Sales is everything. Not just selling the product but hiring, investors, negotiations. Product advantage . When there's 20 versions of the same thing, the one thing works the best can win. (but you can't lie to yourself and believe yours is the best just cuz you made it) A lot of capital. Money fixes all the gaps but it doesn't guarantee success, in some cases it makes it more difficult p.s. tbh most of the vibecode saas people would be WAY better off selling their ability to vibecode as a service to people that have no idea how good AI has gotten. The math here is kind of obvious. If your goal is $10k/mo, do you really want to figure out how to sell a shitty $19/mo overly competitive product to 530 people... or could you just sell to a handful of the millions of business owners that have no idea about AI and eager to pay people that solve their problems, make their life easier, or make them more money. (just please don't buy some stupid "AI agency" course. if you can't figure out how to do that on your own you're NGMI) submitted by /u/Rare_Guide_9830 [link] [comments]
