Original Summary
It's 3am. You've had the same thought for the fourth night running. You are not going to open a notes app and type. So I built Beacon . You open it to a black screen — no menus, no streaks, no cheerful greeting, no badge telling you that you missed yesterday. One orb. You press it and say the thing out loud. That's the entire interface. Then the part I'm actually proud of: it doesn't answer. No advice, no reframing, no "have you tried focusing on the positive." I built an AI journal and then deliberately took away its ability to talk back, because at 3am I don't want to be coached by a language model. I want the thought out of my head and somewhere safe, and I want the app to have the restraint to say nothing. What it does instead is remember . Every entry is transcribed and broken down into what it was actually about — not sentiment scores, the actual subject. When the same worry comes back for the fourth time across a month, the app tells you. Once. Quietly. That's the whole product: not advice, just "this one keeps coming back." The design rule for the entire app is that nothing should feel like software at 3am. Pure black, no borders, no bouncing animations, no notifications begging you to return. It's meant to feel like a room, not a feed. It's free in TestFlight right now, iOS: https://testflight.apple.com/join/jwMzWPPe . Ninety seconds start to finish — one recording is enough to know whether the idea lands for you. I read every piece of feedback the app sends me. One honest caveat, because someone will ask: nobody has used it for thirty days yet, so the pattern engine is still unproven in the wild. That's exactly what I'm looking for testers for. submitted by /u/BeautifulOk9289 [link] [comments]
