Original Summary
Hi, everyone This is my first post here, my account is old, but I was not really active. I'm a software engineer (backend focused), used to do a lot of freelance back in the day, but recently I started to build my own SaaS to solve a problem I faced a lot in my full time jobs and in freelance jobs as well. This is not the first time ofc I have tried to build a product, but this is the first time I saw it through to the end, I would always start something new, very excited and then I give up and not complete it. As it turns out, this is much harder than doing getting money our of freelance jobs, building the thing was the easiest part apparently, I have/had no idea how to market for it. I'm starting to learn how SEO, AEO, domain ranking etc work. I'm struggling to get my app listed in search engines, I almost gave up until I woke up with an email that someone signed up for the free trial, I kept watching everyday until the end of the free trial ended, I though that customer would cancel, but they didn't and they have been paying for it for 2 months now! That got me very excited, I started fixing bugs, making sure UX is much better etc, and then I got another subscriber out of nowhere. I invested some more time, started submitting my app to all these SaaS directories, and my domain ranking is now 15 instead of zero, so there's progress! I also got another customer through a referral from my freelance connections, so now it's at $40 MRR. This is much less than what I would have made doing freelance, but this give me much more joy. Thanks for reading so far, I will be documenting my journey here, helping out whenever I can with what I learn along the way! Cheers! submitted by /u/SavageSultan [link] [comments]
