Original Summary
I keep seeing the argument that AI will make people build their own tools instead of paying for SaaS. For simple tools, that seems fair. But "I can build this" and "I want to be responsible for this" are two different decisions. A working demo doesn't settle who handles the broken integration, who restores the lost data, or who fixes it when the person who built it isn't around. My guess: AI makes some features harder to charge for, and makes reliability and support worth more. But I'm not convinced that holds equally in every category. For anyone selling SaaS: has a customer actually left to build their own replacement, or is this mostly something we worry about among builders? And from the buyer side: what's one tool you could probably recreate but still happily pay for, and why? submitted by /u/mrkeyoor [link] [comments]
