TopWise is a public leaderboard site. No algorithm, no votes, no quality score. Whoever has backed a listing the most sits first. That's the entire rule. There are boards for products, creators, cafés and communities. They're live right now, so you can look at real ones instead of a landing page: https://topwise.io I got the idea from outbid.lol by jonathan_wilke, who did this for products. What I wanted to find out was whether the mechanic survives in categories where reputation is softer. A SaaS tool being #1 because someone paid for it is funny. A café being #1 for the same reason feels different, and I'm not sure yet whether that difference is interesting or just uncomfortable. The case for it: every ranking you already look at is shaped by who spent what. App store charts, "best of" listicles, sponsored placements. This one just says so out loud. The case against it: that's a one-week joke, not something anyone comes back to. I don't know which is true and I'd rather find out now than after I've built more. Two things I'd genuinely like opinions on: Does the café board feel useful, or does it feel like I'm selling something that belongs to a neighbourhood? That's the part I'm least comfortable with. Is there a category where this would actually be useful rather than just a bit? I keep coming back to "no" and wanting someone to argue me out of it. Entry is $2 so it's cheap either way.
