Original Summary
I've been building Movidict over the last few days, a movie discovery app for people who are constantly asking themselves: "What should I watch?" I'm building it with Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, and the TMDB API. So far I've built: - Movie discovery homepage - Dynamic movie hero section - Trending / popular / top-rated sections - Movie & TV sections - Reusable movie cards - TMDB API integration - TanStack Query + Axios API layer - Responsive mobile experience - Movie genre mapping - Real-time movie data from TMDB The idea isn't to build another TMDB clone. I want the experience to feel more like falling down a rabbit hole of movies: you find one movie, then discover another, then another. I'm also building it publicly and livestreaming the development process, which has been interesting because I'm trying to solve most of the problems myself instead of relying heavily on AI. I'd genuinely like feedback: What features would make you personally use a movie discovery app instead of just searching IMDb/Google/Netflix? I'm particularly interested in ideas around recommendations, discovery, watchlists, and finding something when you have absolutely no idea what to watch. Demo: https://movidict.vercel.app/ I'm also building it live on YouTube if anyone is interested in following the process: https://youtube.com/live/y4yDdDhJYwo?feature=share submitted by /u/thathustlingdev [link] [comments]
