This year I decided to stop only reading about tech and ship something. I picked the most crowded category imaginable, browsers, because I could see a gap from here that Silicon Valley can't: everyone I know browses on a 3 GB-RAM phone with full storage and metered data, and every "privacy browser" wants a 150–200 MB download before it blocks a single ad. Either your browsing data is sent to the servers, or you are bombarded with ads that track you around. So the constraints became the product: data doesn't leave the phone, ads and trackers blocked and all of this had to fit in 25 MB, which meant building on the system WebView instead of bundling an engine. I gave myself a hard 25 MB budget and came in at 10! It blocks ads/trackers/cookie banners, imports bookmarks from your old browser, reads articles aloud, and counts the data it saves you. Free, funded by ads in the app's own UI (yes, an ad-funded ad blocker, happy to discuss that trade-off honestly), available in English + 12 other languages.
