Original Summary
Something I’ve been thinking about with SaaS is the difference between a customer who is unhappy and a customer who has simply stopped caring. The second one seems much harder to catch. They’re still subscribed, they aren’t complaining, they aren’t asking for refunds, and there may not be any obvious “cancel” signal. They just gradually use the product less until one day the subscription disappears. For founders who have dealt with this, what signals have actually helped you identify these customers early? Things like: A drop in login frequency Certain features suddenly going unused Fewer team members using the product Reduced activity compared with their normal usage Support interactions changing Payment failures Something else entirely I’m especially interested in signals that turned out to be useful in practice rather than the usual “track engagement” advice. Curious whether anyone has found a reliable way to distinguish “temporarily inactive” from “quietly becoming a churn risk.” submitted by /u/Delicious-Dig-3407 [link] [comments]
