I didn't build this to sell it. I built it because I wanted it. I've tried making things before with the goal of selling them. Every single one of those ended with zero users. This time the tool isn't even public yet, and 400 people have signed up. The thing I actually learned, which matters more to me than the number: build something you want, where you are the first user. When I started from "what could I sell," I could never really explain to myself why I'd want it. And I never used it. Not once. I made that mistake over and over.
