After almost 16 years at a company that eventually became insolvent, I decided to return to something I’ve always enjoyed: programming. I had previously studied web development, but had never built a native iOS/macOS app before, so I started learning from scratch. I’m now building NaughtyJar : a private intimacy tracker for couples. You record intimate moments, each one adds money to a virtual jar, and at the end of the cycle you use that money to buy a meaningful gift — or any reward you’ve been saving for. (Diamonds or Gummy bears, perhaps?) The person you’re with doesn’t need to use the app — it’s a private record for the person keeping track. The tone is playful and suggestive, but not explicit or vulgar. Everything stays on-device, with no mandatory account, tracking or advertising.
