Original Summary

A few weeks ago I launched minimo , a small video compression app I built as a side project. It's intentionally almost the opposite of SaaS: no subscription no account no backend for processing everything happens on-device free and open source I wasn't sure anyone would actually care. It just passed 200+ downloads , and honestly, the most exciting part hasn't been the number. It's the feedback and reviews. Seeing complete strangers use something I built, leave a review, recommend an improvement, or simply say that it's useful has been incredibly motivating. I'm genuinely blown away by the response. And now I'm at an interesting point. I don't want to ruin a simple utility by forcing a subscription into it just because that's the default business model. At the same time, I'd love to keep building it and see how far I can take it. So I'm curious how people here would approach this: If a free product starts getting organic users and positive feedback, at what point would you start thinking seriously about monetization? Would you keep the core product completely free and build something around it, introduce paid features later, or focus entirely on distribution first?
