Original Summary

Hey everyone, I’ve been observing how a lot of automation builders and agencies set up n8n workflows using OpenAI/Anthropic nodes for their clients. One recurring headache seems to be API Key management & cost control: Giving clients direct access to master API keys often leads to accidental infinite loops or unexpected usage spikes. Manually generating and tracking sub-keys per workflow/client gets messy fast. I'm currently running a brief community benchmark to see how most automation agencies handle this (e.g., hard budget caps, custom proxies, or just native platform billing). If you have 60 seconds, I’d super appreciate your input in this anonymous 5-question survey: https://tally.so/r/jaKZ6Q (I’ll summarize all the insights and share the results back here with the subreddit once completed!) Curious to hear your thoughts in the comments as well—how do you currently protect your API budgets when handing off workflows to clients? submitted by /u/SSF_allen [link] [comments]
