Been working on Nest, a personal finance tracker for Android — income/expenses, pay cycles, recurring transactions. The main design decision: its local-first. Everything lives in a SQLite database on-device, no backend, no account, nothing synced anywhere. Partly a product choice (i dont want to gate basic functionality behind a subscription, and not having a backend means i dont have to), partly just what felt right for a finance app — i dont love the idea of my own spending data sitting on someone elses server either. Backstory: i was tracking my own spending in Google Sheets for years — new tab every month, new sheet every year, manually subtracting recurring costs to see what was left, it worked but was tedious and id forget to update it half the time so i built the thing i actually wanted. Its in closed beta right now before i push it to general release on the Play Store so im looking for people to actually use it for a couple weeks and tell me what breaks or whats confusing.
