Original Summary

At the end of June this year, the Cuban government approved 176 "Economic and Social Transformations" — the largest reform package in over six decades. It touches everything: private property rules, access to currency markets, foreign investment, digital services, you name it. The problem: it's 176 dense, institutional-language policy points, organized for legislators, not for the people who'd actually want to act on them. If you're an entrepreneur on the island, someone in the Cuban diaspora with capital, or a foreign investor, there was no way to look at this document and go "okay, so what can I actually build now that I couldn't before?" So I built CEMIS — a directory that structures all 176 reforms into 300+ concrete business opportunities (what it is, why it's possible now, market size, business model, risks), plus an open directory of Cuban and diaspora companies/actors tied to each sector. A lot of the "how" behind this project came from binge-watching Frey Chu's YouTube channel — he builds his own profitable directories and teaches SEO/directory-building along the way. That's what pushed me toward the build style I ended up using: a static site generator written in plain Python, no frameworks, generating pure HTML with full Schema.org JSON-LD for SEO. The 176 reforms are structured as the organic-traffic entry point, and the opportunity/company layer is built directly on top of that same content. The more interesting technical turn lately has been wiring up MCP (Model Context Protocol) — a topic his channel has also started covering as he adds it to his own directories. I added a public MCP server so AI agents can query the reforms-to-opportunities-to-companies data directly instead of scraping HTML — looking at getting it listed on the official MCP registry plus Smithery/Glama for discovery. Next up: integrating GitNexus — it's normally a knowledge-graph engine that indexes codebases (dependencies, call chains, clusters) and exposes them to AI agents over MCP. I want to repurpose that same graph engine to model the directory itself as a graph instead of flat pages — reforms, opportunities, and companies as connected nodes, so you can traverse "this reform → these opportunities → these companies already operating there" instead of clicking through separate pages. It's an independent, non-political project — no guaranteed-return promises, every opportunity lists its real risks. Mostly built solo, still very early.
