Original Summary
As it says in the title, I took a stab at building a portfolio tracker! I kept reading market news and having no idea whether any of it mattered to what I own. Most trackers just show you prices and a generic news feed. So I built GloblView. You enter your holdings and it scores events against your actual exposure, by company, sector and geography. An oil supply story flags your airline and energy weight instead of sitting in a feed next to fifty unrelated headlines. There's a world map of political and market hotspots with your exposure marked on it. Free, no paywall. There's a demo on the landing page with sample data if you don't want to sign up. globlview.com Other things in it: allocation and performance against a benchmark, watchlist, central bank rates from the BIS, CPI and unemployment from the World Bank, an FX/commodity/index/crypto tracker, email price alerts, and a morning brief you build yourself from segments. The whole thing is keyboard driven, F1 to F6 for tabs, arrows to move, Alt+arrows to reorder rows, S to sort. I wanted it to feel like a terminal. Things that are worse than they sound: quotes are delayed because I'm on free data tiers, index and commodity levels are ETF proxies so direction is right but the number isn't spot, and geographic exposure uses country of registration rather than revenue by region, so Apple counts as US even though a lot of its revenue isn't. Would like to know if the event to exposure idea is actually useful or just sounds useful. Bug reports welcome. submitted by /u/groypedit [link] [comments]
