Original Summary
Hey everyone! I built a free, no-sign-up web simulator that prints an itemized "Life Receipt" at the end of your life: 👉 https://lifereceipt.rebornasyou.com How it works: You can choose to be born in Hong Kong, the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, or Taiwan across different decades. Every year after age 15 is represented by one square on the receipt grid, driven by official historical prices, rents, pay, education, marriage, divorce, and life tables (with family background from census data). The generational contrast in these two test runs is wild: 1995 Spawn (Sai Kung): Got a university degree, became a business owner, and lived to 95—but never got on the property ladder, rented for decades (diagonal squares on the grid), experienced two bouts of unemployment, and only got into public housing at age 77. 1966 Spawn (Central & Western): Studied medicine at 20, became a consultant doctor, bought a first home at 34, and made money flipping a flat—owning property all the way to age 96 (solid black squares). The plot twist: Neither ever married, and both ended their lives with the exact same average Happiness score of 47 . Would love for you guys to try spawning in your own country and birth year to see if you can beat the housing market without hitting the red "Negative equity" squares! Let me know what kind of receipt you get. submitted by /u/RemarkableTonight856 [link] [comments]
