Original Summary

Several months ago while on vacation, my wife and I bought the card game Flip 7 for my son. If you haven't played it, it's a push-your-luck card game where rounds go by fast and score is tracked from round to round. It was a blast, but the place we were staying actually didn't have a pen and paper so I kept score on my phone's notepad. It was very annoying. It occurred to me I could use a scorekeeper app, but after surveying the large field, I didn't find one that appealed to me so it occurred to me I could probably create one. So I built Tallero, my first app. While it started as a Flip 7 scorekeeper for our kitchen table, it soon expanded into other games we play, such as Hearts and Yahtzee, and now it handles 18 games, each scored by its own rules. The part that is extremely fun is stats and awards (my kids love trying to collect the awards). Every game gets saved, so over time you build up a record: win rates, head-to-head results, longest win streaks, your biggest win. Each player gets a "Nemesis" (whoever beats them most) and a "Punching Bag" (whoever they beat most). There was a lot to learn creating an app. The hard part was making it feel calm and readable when it's passed around a table: big scores, entering a round in a few taps, and small celebrations when someone actually pulls off a Flip 7. This whole thing has just been me, a solo operation, done in my free time on evenings and weekends (and yes, some while I'm at work too). It's free for now on iPhone. I'll likely monetize at some point down the line. I'd love feedback, especially on design: anything that feels off, cluttered, or slow mid-game. Enjoy!
