Original Summary

Over the last 6 months I built two platforms. First a marketplace for fractional executives, then a more or less related one for co-founder matching For the first one I went the classic route: the app in Next.js, the marketing site as a separate WordPress + Elementor install. For the second one I built everything directly with Claude Code, including the website and all landing pages, in the same codebase as the app. (I reused some code base from the first project, but besides that I was massively faster this time.) I wouldn't split it again. Why: Performance out of the box. Every page scores 100 on Google PageSpeed Insights, and I didn't have to tune anything to get there. No plugin bloat, no caching plugins, no fighting the page builder. Real app screens on marketing pages. I can bring actual app screens into the landing pages to explain how the solution works, without a detour through a separate CMS workflow. Smooth workflow with Claude Design. Design and code live in one place, so getting from a design to a working page is seamless. (I'm on the Claude Max 5x plan.) Live platform data without widgets. Marketing pages can show live data from the platform directly, because they are part of the app. No embeds, no widgets, no glue code between WordPress and the app. What hasn't changed at all It still pays off massively to define the solution properly upfront and then execute step by step. AI makes building faster, but it doesn't replace knowing exactly what you want to build. And build serious test coverage with a solid set of end-to-end tests. The faster you ship, the more you need them. Trade-offs, to be fair Changing marketing copy now means a code change and a deploy. As a solo founder that's fine for me, for a team with non-technical marketers it might not be. There's no visual page builder for others to play around with. I don't know whether integrating a blog function is a good idea to build custom... If you want to see the look and feel in practice: the co-founder platform is cofoundista.com. Feel free to run it through PageSpeed yourself. Curious how others handle this: still running a separate CMS for marketing, or everything in one codebase? submitted by /u/gregorzehetner [link] [comments]
