Managing a server generally involves using a terminal in one window, an SFTP client in another, and a monitoring dashboard elsewhere, often with an agent installed on the server. I wanted to centralize all of this without installing anything on the machines; so I created Terminal OS. It's a desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You just need to add a server with its SSH access for it to open like a real desktop: windows, taskbar, file explorer via SFTP, terminal, Monaco code editor, and browser. You also benefit from real-time monitoring (CPU, memory, disks, network, processes, and history), live log streaming, alerts on Telegram, Slack, Discord, webhook, or email, and a view of your hosted sites and Docker containers. It works on VPS, dedicated server, or shared hosting, without root access. It relies on Electron with a local Node backend. Each server uses a unique SSH connection, and the metrics, terminal, and files go through separate channels. The metrics come from a small shell script that reads the directory /proc , which avoids the use of an agent or an extra port. Your servers and credentials stay on your machine.
