Original Summary
I need to pick a lane and I can’t tell which one is right. Here is where I am. I’m a solo founder, still employed full-time. I built a platform that gives AI assistants structured knowledge to work from. It can serve many use cases, which is the problem. Every one of them looks plausible. Four lanes I’ve tested, with what actually happened: 1. Individual users (B2C/prosumer). Early adopters found me on Twitter and Reddit. The feedback was good. One person used it heavily during a redesign and left a nice video review. Then nobody came back. Free alternatives (a folder of markdown, a CLAUDE.md) are good enough for one person. 2. Ops and chief-of-staff roles at startups. Pain is real, since knowledge is scattered and decisions aren’t written down. I have a few design partners. Results are mixed: one has no budget, one has access but nobody uses it, one deprioritized it. Cold outreach to this group has stopped yielding after weeks of daily sweeps. 3. A security data use case. I built a hosted lookup for vulnerability and certification data. Existing options mostly need self-hosting and local API keys. It’s the most concrete thing I have, and the buyer is clearly defined. I don’t know yet whether it’s a wedge or a side feature. 4. Education and public data. A UN agency and two universities have shown interest. Slow, budget-dependent, hard to repeat. My current rule: pick the lane where someone with a budget can say yes within 30 days. Two questions: If you had to bet on one for the next 60 days, which would you pick? What evidence would make you drop a lane, and what would make you commit? submitted by /u/sartomiki [link] [comments]
