Original Summary
I work on multiple machines, and not all of them have an IDE installed to render markdown files that all AI agents hand me for projects. I looked for a markdown editor that is lightweight, portable, open source, and what was available online did not meet all the checkboxes. So I built my own using Claude. Cost about US$ 500 in API usage, but it was done on my regular Anthropic subscription that I was paying for anyway, so marginal cost was $0. What it does: Write on the left, read on the right. Six Markdown flavors detected automatically, math, Mermaid and Graphviz diagrams, citations, export to HTML, PDF and Word. Private by design: no network requests, and nothing in a document ever runs. Built with Tauri, Svelte and CodeMirror. Feedback and broken sample files are very welcome. https://masud90.github.io/backtickle/ submitted by /u/thebadconsultant [link] [comments]
