Original Summary
I got burnt out on scrolling social media, but I still need something to look at on the toilet, so I built a chill place to hang out on the internet. Ambit is an endless feed of images, articles, blog posts, etc. from my favorite corners of the web. A few dozen sources so far, with new things arriving every day. It's a mix of old and new. Lots of public domain and museum archive material, plus RSS feeds to keep it current. Blog posts show as a preview that links back to the original. If you sign up, your feed starts from a short questionnaire and tunes itself to what you like, with deliberate jumps into things you'd never seek out on your own. The topics and wights are in your profile settings so you control which topics you see and how much of each. No likes, no followers, no ads. I'm going for interesting but not addictive. You can poke round without an account but it's invite-only while I find out if it's any good. You can scroll it without an account: https://ambit.ibenthinkin.com or take the "find your style" questionnaire: https://ambit.ibenthinkin.com/begin I'd really like feedback on the look and feel, since that's kind of the whole point: does it feel calm, or just slow? Anything confusing on your phone? But any feedback at all would be cool. I built this for myself, so I have no idea if anyone else would want it. submitted by /u/Ibenthinkin [link] [comments]
