Original Summary

Hello everyone! im the developer of kenny, and ive just released version 1.0 of my free desktop writing app. Kenny is designed to be a scrivener-like workspace for authors, with tools for manuscript organization, characters, plotlines, revision workflows, and optional AI assistance. My main focus has been making a feature rich application feel approachable rather than overwhelming. One thing ive ran into while building it is, how i should position a product against established competitors when the goal isnt to offer one revolutionary feature, but to combine existing capabilities into a more modern, self understanding and free experience. Scrivener already has a mature and polished feature set, so im not claiming kenny replaces it in every situation. for example, kenny currently has no mobile support. ive documented the differences here: https://kennywriter.app/compare/kenny-writer-vs-scrivener kenny is free, and version 1.0 is now available at https://kennywriter.app/ For those of you who have built or launched software products: how do you communicate the value of a product when its main differentiator is the overall experience and integration of its features, rather than a single unique feature? im particularly interested in how you apporach positioning against established competitors without relying on claims that your product is objectively better. https://preview.redd.it/oonodlq29fwh1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=40ccf13bd6c73d7763c90617e659fe83eeedb9ca submitted by /u/TensUmNite [link] [comments]
