Original Summary
Me and two friends have been building Opie, a free Mac app, and we just shipped it. You hold one key and a ring opens right where your pointer is. Flick toward a slice and it's done. No moving your hand to the keyboard, no digging through menus, no switching apps and coming back. The ring changes with the app you're in. In Slack you get Slack actions, in Obsidian you get Obsidian actions. Outside of that you can put pretty much anything on it: system stuff like dark mode, hiding the Dock or menu bar converting files in one flick (HEIC to PNG, MP4 and more, FFmpeg is bundled) a vinyl-style media ring for Spotify and Apple Music any keyboard shortcut, so a flick can trigger tools like AeroSpace your Apple Shortcuts and favorite apps We spent way too long on how the flick feels, honestly that was most of the work. It's free, macOS 26+, Apple silicon and Intel: https://opies.io Would love to hear what you'd put on your ring, or what feels off. submitted by /u/Spiritual-Fall-8029 [link] [comments]
