Original Summary
Over the past week, I set out to build a lightweight, local-first CRM and analytics dashboard using React and Tailwind CSS. The goal was to avoid heavy third-party UI libraries and package bloat while keeping the interface responsive, dark-themed, and fast. Here are three key technical challenges and how I handled them: State Persistence without Database Overhead: Managing pipeline stages instantly needed zero latency. Storing state in browser local storage gave near-instant updates compared to full backend API roundtrips for a local tool. Responsive Card Layouts: Using CSS Grid with dynamic minmax() boundaries instead of rigid flex rows prevented broken layout wrapping across different screen resolutions. Glassmorphism Performance: Heavy backdrop-filter: blur() layers on overlapping elements caused minor GPU rendering lag. Restricting blur layers to stationary outer containers while keeping child cards on clean semi-transparent dark gradients restored smooth 60fps scrolling. How do you usually handle local state persistence for dashboard prototypes before wiring up full databases? Would love to hear your approaches! submitted by /u/Fit-Presentation87 [link] [comments]
