Original Summary
I'm building HijackWatch for the people responsible for a brand's affiliate programme and paid search. The attached image is an anonymized summary of a real investigation. The search-ad findings came from eight desktop queries, requesting Berlin and Munich locations on 10 October: 17 text-ad observations in total 6 showing the merchant's own domain 11 showing third-party domains, representing 8 distinct third-party display domains Those numbers gave me a list to investigate. They did not establish that those businesses were affiliates, had deliberately targeted an exact-match brand keyword, or had broken the merchant's rules. A separate coupon-page review produced a more specific question: a newsletter offer was promoted through a URL containing affiliate tracking, while publicly indexed programme terms appeared to restrict that type of promotion. The merchant still needs to confirm the current terms, publisher identity and any separate permission. That finding came from a coupon page, not a captured search ad from that publisher. The report shows what was observed, the evidence sources and what the merchant needs to verify next. I haven't established commission losses or recovered revenue from this case. I attached a one-page summary so you can see the deliverable. It was reconstructed from saved records; it isn't an original search-results screenshot. Identifying details have been removed. If you manage an affiliate programme and want to discuss a review, the site is HijackWatch . Include the brand, target market and the behaviour you're concerned about so we can agree on a useful scope. submitted by /u/DrRoseLee123 [link] [comments]
