Original Summary
I wanted a music player I could leave running while gaming without keeping the whole YouTube Music website open, so I started building Tide. It’s an open-source Windows app written in Rust with a native Slint interface and native audio playback. It has your playlists and recommendations, song radio, a draggable queue and a mini player. The goal is to leave more resources available for the game; memory use varies, especially while resolving a new track. Source, screenshots and a 48-second demo It’s still an early preview: the source is public, but the installer hasn’t been published yet. YouTube Music connection currently uses a manually loaded Chrome companion, and the integration is unofficial. The demo shows an earlier prototype and its memory comparison is one test, not a universal result. I’m the maintainer, and development uses AI assistance. I’d like feedback on whether this solves a problem you have, the UI, and what would make first-time setup comfortable enough to try. submitted by /u/Mediocre-Market1246 [link] [comments]
