Original Summary
I launched Attic on Monday. It's a small menu bar app: once a day it moves old screenshots off the Desktop, and old installers and files out of Downloads, into ~/Attic, sorted by month. It never deletes anything, and Undo puts the last sweep back. First-week numbers, in case they help someone launching something similar: Mon–Wed, posting on X with very few followers: 2 sales Thursday, one post in r/macapps : 6.3K views, 34 comments and 9 sales in about a day. Since then about 9 in 10 visitors come from Reddit, a lot of them from the Reddit app * Friday, another post on X: 8 visits, 0 sales Pricing is a ladder: $5 for the first 100 licenses, then $9, then $15. No trial, a 14-day refund instead. In the Reddit post I said who I am, what the app does and what it doesn't, and the price, and then replied to the comments. A buyer asked for custom screenshot folders, and that's in 1.0.1. Two questions for anyone who has sold a small paid Mac app: After the first good Reddit post, where did your next buyers come from? Did a free trial sell more than a refund window? https://atticmac.com/?ref=sideproject submitted by /u/Pfernan95 [link] [comments]
