Original Summary
Trying to keep a run strictly in Zone 2 usually means looking at your wrist every half-minute. A watch buzz doesn’t actually tell you if you just bumped up 2 beats or if you're blowing through the ceiling, so you still have to break stride, look down, and check the screen. I just wanted something dead simple that drops into my headphones, tells me my number or when I jump zones, dips the music for a second, and leaves me alone. What it does: Speaks your heart rate, zone, or alerts you when you cross thresholds Dips your audio briefly so you can actually hear it over whatever you're listening to Hooks up directly to standard Bluetooth chest straps and armbands (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, etc.) Runs locally on the phone—no login, no ads, no cloud sync It's up on Google Play for free if anyone wants to run with it: CardioVox If you end up using it, let me know if it pairs cleanly with your strap or if the announcement intervals need tweaking. There's a paid version, but the free version is probably good enough for 99% of you :) submitted by /u/yardik [link] [comments]
