Original Summary

Hi, I am Eduard. The idea: in Hungarian, a very happy person is someone “you could catch birds with”. So I made a tree. You write one sentence about what made you happy today, then it becomes a bird, and it lands on a branch. Strangers catch it, read it, feed it a seed if it did them good, or let it go. Birds live as long as people keep feeding them, then they fly away. What is in it: Anonymous participation with no sign-up request. Your browser keeps a tiny key so you can find your own birds and your “bird book” of the ones you fed. The interface is in 47 languages, and messages are translated on demand with a globe button. Birds are mortal on purpose. I did not want a feed that never ends. Flag-based moderation, rate limits, and a page that honestly says “this is public and cannot be taken back”. What I would love feedback on: Do you understand what to do within ten seconds, without instructions? (There are none on the first screen. That is a bet.) Does a sentence from a stranger actually land, or is it just cute for a minute? Mobile. I have tested on what I have, which is not much. Anything that feels like pressure. The goal was zero pressure: no counters, no streaks, no “share this”. It runs on a small Hetzner box with nginx, FastAPI and PostgreSQL. It is free and will stay free for the global tree; if it ever earns anything, it will be from local trees for events and places, which is a story for another post. https://catchabird.com Tear it apart, kindly. submitted by /u/eduardsik [link] [comments]
