Original Summary

macOS plays everything through one output. The Multi-Output Device trick plays the same audio everywhere, and the proper fix (SoundSource) is $49. So I built Splay: every output is a lane, and you drag any app, or even a single Chrome tab, into the lane you want. What I use it for: Spotify on the AirPlay speaker, Zoom in my AirPods, a lecture tab on the desk speakers while another tab plays music. Things I cared about getting right: it uses the audio capture macOS 26 added, so there's no driver and nothing is recorded. If the AirPlay speaker drops out it goes quiet instead of blasting your laptop speakers. It remembers where you put each app. It's a free beta now, then a 7-day trial and £5 once, with no subscription or account. Needs macOS 26 on Apple Silicon: https://splay.peche.world I made it, and I'd love feedback, especially on which AirPlay speakers work or don't for you. submitted by /u/MonsieurHen [link] [comments]
