Original Summary
We're a team of 3 students building an AI speaking coach for a specific problem: many young people in africa understand English well but freeze when they have to speak (US visa interviews, remote job interviews, IELTS). The product is live as a prototype. The user practices out loud, the AI corrects mistakes without killing their confidence, and we track how long they hesitate before speaking. Our team is split: A) Stay narrow: English only, one audience (Algerian students preparing for high-stakes interviews). B) Go broad: any language (Spanish, German, French...), a much bigger market on paper. My honest worry about B: more languages means more quality testing, voice quality that varies by language, and a blurrier message. My worry about A: the market is small. For those who have built SaaS products: Did you start narrow and expand, or start broad? What signal told you it was time to add the next segment? Is a language-agnostic positioning a trap for a tiny team? Happy to share the link in the comments if the rules allow. Thanks for any blunt feedback. submitted by /u/Professional-Pie6704 [link] [comments]
