Original Summary
I left my desk a few times and needed a file that was sitting on my Mac. Remote desktop from a phone worked, but it felt clumsy for a small request. That led me to build DialDo: the app assigns your Mac a personal number, and you can call it, enter your PIN, and describe a task. One realistic example is: “Find the newest PDF in Downloads, summarize the main points, save a note on my Desktop, and text me when it’s done.” The call and AI planning use cloud services; file and computer actions run on the Mac. You choose the allowed calling number and macOS permissions. This is an early release, not a magic “do anything” agent. The Mac has to be awake and online, and screen-based automation may need it unlocked. Speech errors, app changes, or ambiguous requests can stop a workflow, so the result needs checking. It currently supports Apple Silicon Macs and costs $9.99/month after sign-in, with no free trial. A subscription is required before claiming a number. What is one task you would trust a phone-to-computer assistant to do, and one action it should always ask about first? submitted by /u/mananshah6 [link] [comments]
