Original Summary
I’m not a native English speaker and I read a lot of papers in English, so I often get stuck on one sentence or one figure and end up switching tabs to ChatGPT or a translator, then losing my place. So I made a small Chrome extension for myself. You highlight a sentence (or press Alt+Q) and it explains it using the paragraph around it, in whatever language you pick. For figures and equations you can’t copy, Alt+Z lets you drag a box around them. It’s free with a daily limit (there’s a paid plan if you need more). It uses OpenAI and Google’s paid APIs, which don’t train on your data, and my server doesn’t keep what you send. It’s still rough. If you try it on a paper in your field and the answer is wrong or useless, I’d really like to know. Link: https://contextsnap.pages.dev/ submitted by /u/Either_Fig_9447 [link] [comments]
