Original Summary
Most SaaS landing pages lose visitors in the first 10 seconds. Here's the checklist I use to find out why. I've reviewed a few hundred early-stage SaaS sites now, and the same handful of problems show up over and over. None of them are about design taste or "branding." They're about clarity and friction. If you're getting traffic but not signups, run this list before you touch anything else. The headline describes the product, not the outcome. "AI-powered workflow automation platform" tells me nothing. "Cut your weekly reporting time from 6 hours to 20 minutes" tells me everything. The subheadline repeats the headline. A good subheadline answers who it's for, what it replaces, and what happens next. There's no visible product until 3 scrolls down. Screenshots beat illustrations. Real UI beats abstract shapes. The primary CTA is "Learn more." Try action plus outcome: "Start free - no card." One primary action per page. Social proof is a logo wall with no recognizable names. If you don't have big logos yet, use numbers or a single specific quote. The FAQ is buried and pricing is a maze. Put the two objections people actually have on the homepage. Make pricing scannable in 15 seconds. There's no reason to act today. Not fake urgency - just a clear next step with a low cost. The page has 6 competing CTAs. Pick the one that matches your traffic source and make the rest secondary. It's not skimmable. Bold the claims, short paragraphs, one idea per line. Nothing tells them what to do after they don't convert. Retarget, email capture, comparison page, waitlist. The first visit is rarely the sale. The pattern is almost always the same: founders describe the product, buyers are looking for proof it solves a specific, expensive problem. If you want, drop your landing page URL in the comments and I'll tell you which of the ten is costing you the most traffic. What's the one change that actually moved your conversion rate? Curious what worked for others here. submitted by /u/ConsiderationAny8897 [link] [comments]
