Original Summary
I used to think getting people to try a product was the hard part. Build something useful, make it free, launch it, get traffic. Surely some users would stick around? But I'm realizing that getting people to try your product and getting them to keep using it are two completely different problems. Traffic doesn't automatically mean growth. Free doesn't automatically mean adoption. I think the real challenge is figuring out whether people aren't finding your product, aren't understanding its value, or simply don't need it enough to come back. My biggest takeaway so far: instead of chasing thousands of visitors, focus on finding a handful of people who genuinely need what you're building. Talk to them, understand their problems, and learn why they stay or leave. I'm still figuring this out, tho.. For those who've built products that eventually gained traction, what made the biggest difference for you: retention, distribution, or smth else?? submitted by /u/s4mzai [link] [comments]
