Original Summary

Hi everyone, I'm Tony, I'm 14 and I live in Athens. Planning a week of food at home always takes more effort than it should: picking meals, checking what's already in the fridge, writing the list, keeping an eye on the money. So while learning to code, I've been building Grocery Brain, a free web app that does it. An AI coding assistant writes most of the code; I decide what the app does, test it and work through feedback from the people using it. What it does today: - Plans your week (you pick which meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, even dekatiano), and you can swap a meal with one tap - 270+ recipes, many of them everyday Greek dishes like fasolada, gemista and moussaka, in Greek and English - Shows roughly what the week costs next to your budget, using typical Greek supermarket prices I set by hand (estimates, not live prices) - Writes the shopping list without what's already in your pantry, with pack sizes, and can send it to WhatsApp or search each item on Sklavenitis, AB, My market, Masoutis, Kritikos or Bazaar online - Keeps track of what's in your fridge and what to use up first - New today: cook mode, one step at a time in big text, with timers you start by tapping the time in the step It leaves out ingredients you're allergic to, but it only knows the ingredients listed in each recipe, so always check labels. You can try it without signing up: https://www.grocery-brain.com What's missing, what's confusing, and what would make you use it every week? submitted by /u/TonyGR88 [link] [comments]
