Original Summary
I’m a developer, but I’ve never run a subscription business, so I’m coming at this from research instead of experience. What I keep reading is that a real share of SaaS churn isn’t customers choosing to leave. It’s renewals that fail because a card expired or was declined, and the customer never notices until access stops. Before I build anything, I’d like to hear from people who’ve actually dealt with it: Do you track failed payments at all, or do you only see them as cancellations? What do you use for recovery today: Stripe’s defaults, a dedicated tool, or manual emails? What’s the most annoying part of it? I’m also curious whether you handle different failure reasons differently (an expired card vs. insufficient funds, say), or whether one flow covers all of them. Happy to share what I learn from the replies. And if you think this is a solved problem and not worth building for, I’d like to hear that too. submitted by /u/Nice_Current_8581 [link] [comments]
