Original Summary
Everyone I know does this. Weeks of prep, launch day goes okay, then midnight hits and nobody's looking at your listing anymore, this is how producthunt just works. So about 5 months ago I built ScrollLaunch. Weekly launch board for indie products. You put your product up, it sits on that week's board, people upvote and comment and stuff. Ranking is by upvotes for the week, and the top ones get pushed around a bit more in the weekly recaps. Then when the week's over it still has its own page, so it doesn't just disappear. Reviews are a bit different, you can only leave one after you've opened the product's site, and you can't review your own thing. Also the backlink thing. When you're early you just need a few real ones and the options kinda suck. Either a monthly SEO tool or paying somebody to submit you everywhere, and half of that is dead sites. Free listing gets a dofollow link as long as our badge is on your site, and I recheck every week so if you take it off the link stops counting. If you don't want the badge it's $19 one time per product, and that also gets you a verified badge and a mention in the Monday newsletter. $39 gets you a blog article about your product with 4+ links back to you, it's AI written btw. Only 20 free slots a week so it fills up sometimes. If it's full you can pick another week or upgrade. And I'm not gonna say it'll raise your domain rating, nobody can really say that. There's also a list of startup directories sorted by DR, with a free checker for any domain. I made it because I kept seeing people submit to like 100 sites when 10 or 15 decent ones does more. Pages are set up so ai search stuff like perplexity can read them too, there's an llms.txt and everything. Anyway curious what you guys do after launch day, if anything. What's actually worked and what was a waste of money. submitted by /u/Strange_Anybody_5712 [link] [comments]
