Original Summary
I’m exploring an idea around spotting exposed API keys or unusual API usage before it turns into a nasty bill. I haven’t built anything yet, and I’m trying to understand how people handle this today. If you use paid APIs in a side project or small SaaS: Have you ever found a key being used unexpectedly? How did you notice? What did you check first: the provider’s usage page, billing alerts, logs, or something else? Were the tools you already had enough to figure out what happened? Would you grant a third-party tool scoped, read-only access to usage data for alerts, or would that be a dealbreaker? What would make it feel safe enough? Rough answers are fine. Please don’t share credentials or sensitive incident details. I’m researching the problem before deciding what to build; there’s no product link. submitted by /u/Eshan28 [link] [comments]
