Original Summary
This is my own product, so I'm obviously a bit biased. Mods, feel free to remove this if it breaks the rules. I run a small business in new zealand and do my own bookkeeping. I was paying for accounting software but only using a small part of it, so I decided to build something that better suited my needs. It's called LedgerMind, and I've made a free plan available for anyone who wants to give it a go. At the moment, you can import bank transactions from CSV files or ASB PDF statements, categorise them yourself, and use the figures to prepare your GST return. It also gives you basic income tax figures and financial reports for sole traders and companies. A couple of things to be clear about: it doesn't submit returns directly to IRD yet, so you'll still need to enter the figures into myIR yourself. Automatic transaction categorisation is only available on paid plans, and the product is still a work in progress. If your business has more complicated accounting needs, Xero or a good accountant will probably be a better fit. The data is hosted in new zealand. Receipt scanning and the AI assistant use an external AI provider, which is explained in the privacy policy. I'm mainly interested in hearing from other small business owners who do their own GST. What part takes up the most time? Is it sorting transactions, figuring out GST, or something else? If you feel like trying it, here's the link: https://ledgermind.co.nz I'd appreciate any honest feedback, especially if something doesn't make sense or doesn't work as expected. submitted by /u/OneRun2772 [link] [comments]
