Original Summary

Hi there! I’ve spent the last little while building something that got slightly out of hand. Tadaa… meet bbn.live It’s a 24/7 AI-generated TV network. News, sports, markets, weather, debates, entertainment, a sitcom, parody ads, and whatever else the "director" decides should be on TV at that particular moment. There’s an AI writing room running the network, scheduling segments throughout the day the way an actual TV network would. A "showrunner" is looking at the context across segments to make sure it "makes sense". It pulls from 100+ live news feeds and data sources, decides what’s worth talking about, writes the segments, voices the characters, and broadcasts the whole thing live. It also cuts shorts for the website, selects some to upload to YouTube, and creates thumbnails. Looking at it now, it’s much more impressive than anything I could have imagined building using AI just a few months ago (and I have build a lot). The entire app was built using my Claude and ChatGPT Pro subscriptions. A Node server ingests all the feeds and live data, the director decides what airs next, the broadcast page draws the cut-paper characters on canvas, and a pipeline captures the result and streams it to YouTube. It then takes screenshots, records the actual live output, measures audio/video timing, spots things that look or sound wrong, and then fixes them. It also built the deployment setup between my dev and production machines to update the website via Vercel, host video on Cloudflare etc.. At runtime, AI is running the network too. It writes the anchors’ scripts from the actual incoming stories and data and helps rank and select what’s worth covering. The voices come from open-source TTS models running locally on a GPU. It’s now at a point where I can personally leave it running for quite some time and actually enjoy watching it. Which is either a great sign or completely meaningless, because I have a bad case of “I love every side project I come up with and assume everyone else will too,” while history suggests that’s rarely true. ;-) So I’d love to get some other eyes on it. You can watch it at bbn.live , or on the YouTube channel, where I’m running two versions simultaneously. A regular 16:9 broadcast for TVs/desktops and a dedicated vertical stream: https://www.youtube.com/@watchBBN/streams While it does cost me some money to keep the whole operation running (around $40 per day right now), it's so much fun seeing how far I can push the idea of an AI-generated television network. To be candid about my inspiration: A while back I stumbled across a post on Reddit about pnn.watch , an AI-8-bit news network. I thought it was cool, but obviously not cool enough for my taste :P submitted by /u/matbox [link] [comments]
