Original Summary
So, on the side I do web development. I primarily deal with Shopify but, occasionally I’ll get a completely custom website. My leads have always been from people that just know me. Friend of a friend, someone’s uncle, that kind of stuff. But never from cold leads. I’ve reached out to people on Facebook group pages, Reddit, scouting local businesses from Google profiles and auditing their websites. Not once have I ever won anything. I’ve tried saying the price first, I’ve tried leaving the price out. Lots of different methods and it just doesn’t seem to click. I’ve also tried just dealing with locals trades men for example. Those guys are just so busy already, they don’t even need a website. Now, I am not looking to build an agency from this. I don’t want to earn crazy amounts of money from it. I just want a couple projects a month. Bill payers if you will. I guess my questions are: How did you land your first web development clients outside of word of mouth and referrals? What outreach methods have actually worked for you when approaching businesses that don't know you? If you only wanted a couple of projects a month rather than building an agency, how would you go about finding them? I appreciate any help at all. Thank you 👍 submitted by /u/ItsSteveRyan [link] [comments]
