Original Summary

Context first: I'm a solo founder, this is my own side project, it's free, and there's no link in the post. The project is a place where you type a trading idea in normal words ("buy when it drops 3% in a day, sell after 5 days"), it tests that rule on old prices without cheating, and tells you whether it holds up. If it does, you can switch it on as a bot that trades with fake money so you can watch it before you'd ever trust it. Here's the first five days of October, straight from my own database: step people signed up 35 tested at least one idea 17 switched a bot on 1 Half of the people who signed up never typed a single idea. Of the half who did, almost nobody took the next step. And that's with two starter bots sitting right there on the first screen, ready to switch on with one button. My guesses, in the order I believe them: The test answer is too honest. Most ideas come back "not proven yet" or "this doesn't hold up", and I think a lot of people read that as "the app says no" and leave. Over the last 30 days the tool said "proven enough" to about 1 in 8 tests. I built it that way on purpose, because the thing I hated about every other tool was that everything looked amazing until real money touched it. But I might be punishing exactly the people I wanted. "Switch on a bot" sounds scarier than it is. It's fake money, but the word bot still reads like risk. Signing up was the end of their curiosity, not the start. They wanted to see what it was, saw it, done. What I'm not going to do is the obvious fix, which is showing big returns on the starter bots to make people want them. I refuse to quote returns for them at all, because a starter bot that looks great in a backtest is exactly the trap the whole project exists to point out. How Quantradin helps (that's the name, I built it): if you've ever had a trading idea and wondered whether it actually works, you describe it in plain words, it grades it honestly against real past prices, and anything that survives runs on paper so you see it behave live before you trust it with anything. Free, paper only, quantradin.com. For anyone who's built something with a "first real action" after signup: where did your biggest drop happen, and what was the one change that actually moved it, a better first screen, an email, or something else? submitted by /u/QuanTradin [link] [comments]
