Original Summary
Local PDF Studio, the free PDF editor for Chrome I build on my own, can now translate a PDF without uploading it. When you open a PDF that isn't in your language, a bar offers to translate it. One click opens a full-window view with the original pages on the left and the translation filling in on the right, page by page, and the two sides scroll together. At the end you download the translation alone, a side-by-side PDF or alternating pages. I wanted files to stay on your computer, so the translating is done by Chrome's own built-in translator rather than an online service. Also new: click a page to place a logo or picture on it, nudge it with the arrow keys and Save writes it into the file. The catch: not every language is there yet. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic are among the ones held back, because they need fonts this version doesn't include. A question if you try it: does that translation bar feel helpful when a PDF opens or in the way? https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/local-pdf-studio-offline/ocfegjfhboadmbpompimnbbpegjgoded submitted by /u/Prestigious-Bath-945 [link] [comments]
